ps i cant think of a vw sports car off hand.
The cars you list have very little in common.
1st do you need 2+2 or 4 seats. If you ever need more than 2 seats
the Z is out. If you need to do long journeys with 4 adults the RX8
is out.
2nd do you want a proper sports car with a low roofline and really low
seats or will some sort of tarted up / cut down saloon car do? If you
want a low roofline the Z has it but that's 2" taller than the old
300ZX. The RX8 at 52.8" is 1" taller than the Z. Jetta is the same
as any normal saloon at 56.7" tall (Late 70's Datsun by Nissan 910
station wagon was lower at 55.3"). The lower the car the better it
will go round bends, the lower you sit the better it will feel.
3rd do you want real sports handing? Forget the FWD VW (and any 4wd)
and get a RWD Z or RX8.
4th do you want the small turning circle and good manoverablity that a
sports car should have? Forget the whole lot, all are around 35ft
which is at least 3ft more than it should be for any sports car.
About the only car left in production in the world with a nice 30.2ft
turning circle is a Mazda Miata.
VW group think sports cars are called AUDI TT Coupe or Golf GTi but
the use of FWD/4WD proves they aren't.
